P.F. Chang’s: A Gluten Free Date
The other night, my boyfriend Shane and I wanted to go out on a date, since we have not been in a long time. It was the last night that he was in town before going back to school and we had no clue where we should go. Luckily, I have an app called Find Me Gluten Free (post to come) that brings up a list of restaurants in the area that you can get gluten free food at. On this list, P.F. Chang’s came up, so we decided to go there.
Now, if you’re like me and like planning things ahead, or even if you don’t like to plan things, you should make a reservation a day in advanced because if not you may be waiting a little while to be seated. Seriously, planning will save you a lot of time (and hunger). Anyway, we drove on over, and after being seated looked through the menu.
Shane and I often order two entrees while out to eat, and split them between the two of us. After looking at the Gluten-Free Menu, which is in the regular menu and has a lot of delicious looking meals, we decided on the Cantonese-Style Lemon Chicken, and the Shrimp Fried Rice. When they brought the two dishes out, I asked the waitress, just to make sure that they were both gluten-free. That’s when she told me that they have different plates and bowls specifically for their gluten-free meals. The plates have a black circle around the rim, and the sauce bowls have red rims.
The food was absolutely delicious. Shane really enjoyed it, even though it was gluten-free, and told me that it was surprising we found somewhere that had gluten-free, and had it done well. I, obviously, was very excited about this because now there is one more restaurant we can go to for food.
P.F. Chang’s has a ton of different locations across the country, and it really wasn’t even all that expensive. I’m glad I’ve found one more place safe for Celiacs and gluten-intolerant alike.
